A link to the books on reading list THL161 – Ideas and values, is now available. You can access the list from either this blog site, the library subject pages under the heading ‘Theology’, or by typing ‘thl161′ into the search box on the library catalogue.
Several of the titles for this list are currently on order, but you can reserve the items now. If you would like to do this please see a member of the library staff.
Also don’t forget, if you would like to read an electronic copy of the book ‘Cambridge companion to feminist theology’, listed on the indicative bibliography, you will find this on the ‘Dawsonera’ link, found on the library ‘electronic resources’ page on Portia.

Dawsonera is a new and exciting ‘electronic resource’ that enables you to search for full-text electronic books owned by the university library. You can downloaded the full book to your area for up to two days. Many of the titles have been bought specifically to support module reading lists and although small in size at present this is a growing database.
Current titles available specifically for ‘Theology’ reading lists are:
Bassnett-McGuire, Susan. (2003). Studying British Cultures. Routledge. Listed on Module THL181
McLeod, Hugh. (2003). Decline of Christendom in Western Europe, 1750 – 2000. Cambridge University Press. Module THL161.
Parsons, Susan Frank . (2002). Cambridge companion to feminist theology. Cambridge University Press. Module 241.
Woodhead, Linda. (2001). Religions in modern world. Routledge. Module THL 181.
You can access the books from both on and off campus.
You will find the link to the database by logging into ‘Portia’, then from the ’My library’ tab, click on ‘electronic resources’ and scroll down the list to ‘Dawsonera’. The first time you use the link, you might be asked to agree to the licencing terms and also it should be noted that you will need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader if you are using the conection from home (downloadable free from the Dawsonera page). When connected the screen should look similar to the one below. You can then search the database using the advanced and quick search options, or by clicking on the a-z list of titles. If you decide you would like to read the full text click on the blue ‘download this title’ link and follow the connections.
If you have any difficulties or would like help using Dawsonera please get in contact.

The list of library items required for reading list THL311 is now available under the ‘reading list’ link from this blog, and is also accessible from the library catalogue and the library theology subject page.
From the list you will see that the ‘Preparatory’, ‘Key’ and ‘Required Reading’ are listed. However, if you require any of the titles listed under ‘Further Reading’ you will need to check these individually against the library catalogue.

I hope you all had a good Christmas.
For those of you who are preparing for the next semester, I have now linked the reading list THL181 – Religion: Culture and Context to the library catalogue and also posted it on the blog, under the heading ‘Reading Lists’ . If you are studying this module you might notice that several of the titles are held at the Bognor Regis Campus library, however don’t forget, providing the book is not a short loan item or reference copy you can reserve the title and the book will be transported to Bishop Otter Campus for you.

The reading lists numbered THL272 ‘Explorations in Christian Spirituality’ and THL292 ‘Developing Research Skills in Theology’ have now been linked to both the library catalogue and library subject page under the heading ‘Theology’. This will hopefully make searching the catalogue easier in order to find the required reading for these two modules. To use this facility simply type ‘THL’ followed by the reading list number into the library catalogue or use the link on the left of the blog page.
Don’t forget many other theology reading lists are already available!
